As part of the activities to mark this year’s cervical cancer awareness month, CHESIDS team were at Ankpa ward, Makurdi, Benue State last weekend to enlighten a group of parents and their daughters about Human Papillomavirus, Cervical cancer and HPV Vaccine, as well as administer the HPV Vaccine to some young girls free of charge.
This project was executed by CHESIDS in collaboration with WOHEPI; her Benue-based partner NGO, through The Next Hundred young girls receiving HPV vaccine”, an initiative aimed at supporting young girls to be vaccinated against Human Papillomavirus.
This initiative is in line with the WHO 90-70-90 Strategy of eliminating cervical cancer, which proposes that by 2030, 90% of girls below 15 years would be fully vaccinated against HPV.
Twenty young girls aged 9-15 years were beneficiaries of this initiative.
