Meet Roseline Eke Emele
A passionate public health enthusiast and proud member of The Next Public Health Steward (TNH-PHS) Program Cohort 10, committed to advancing community engagement, climate resilience, and public health across Africa.
Her journey into the health space began in high school, where she supported her mother, a health practitioner, who nurtured her admiration for the field and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact.
Over the last 4 years, she has built her skills through trainings, internships, and volunteer roles across the health, humanitarian, and climate sectors, driven by a commitment to empower communities and advocate for better health outcomes.
Roseline first heard about the TNH-PHS program when her friend Praise shared it a day before the deadline, prompting her to apply as part of a shared commitment to pursue meaningful opportunities, a decision inspired by the program’s structure and strong emphasis on learning, leadership, and immersion. Through her orientation at CHESIDS, she deepened her understanding of the technical systems that strengthen public health.
Currently, Roseline is undergoing her immersion with Technical Advice Connect (TAConnect) through the TNH-PHS Program, supporting efforts to strengthen health systems and improve health outcomes, while contributing to sustainable community development.
Her journey into public health and youth leadership is rooted in a desire to see people live healthier, more fulfilling lives, regardless of financial status. As she shares, “My inspiration for public health comes from a desire to see people live healthier, more fulfilling lives, regardless of their financial status. Change starts from youths who dare to care, not those already in authority.
Roseline’s engagement with communities enables her to understand the realities of those around her better, while encouraging young people to step forward as agents of change. Exposure to diverse cultures and global experiences has further strengthened her belief that meaningful transformation is possible when young people act with courage and purpose.
Being part of the TNH network has been a transformative experience for her. “The program reminded me that being young is not a limitation but an opportunity to be a driver of change. Many of my colleagues are excelling across different organisations, and seeing their impact shows that our generation can create meaningful change.
Through TNH, I joined Women in Public Health Leadership for Africa (WiPHLA), where I continue to learn from inspiring women whose mentorship guides my growth.”
One of her proudest achievements is her ongoing immersion experience within (TAConnect), where she is learning the practical dimensions of health systems strengthening, from data-driven program design to community engagement and sustainable health interventions. This hands-on experience continues to shape her understanding of how collaborative efforts can translate vision into measurable impact.
Roseline advises young people like herself to embrace opportunities for growth and service. “Be willing to put yourself out there. Volunteer, intern, and take time to understand the communities you want to serve. Attend conferences and stay curious; there’s always something new to learn and valuable insights to gain. The journey may come with challenges, but you must keep pushing forward.”
Roseline’s journey is a powerful testament to what’s possible when passion meets purpose. Her work reminds us that youth, energy, and dedication are not just ideals; they are tools for driving social transformation.
