TNH Young Girls Receiving HPV Vaccine
HPV Awareness Campaign
The program aimed to raise awareness about the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine among the people ahead of the introduction of the HPV Vaccine into the Nigerian routine immunization schedule. The program took two dimensions involving physical community awareness campaigns conducted in the FCT and Benue state, and an online awareness campaign in the form of a four-part Instagram live series using our official Instagram page @chesids_ngo.
Through these activities, the people were enlightened about the vaccine, and concerns raised about the vaccine were addressed effectively. The physical awareness campaigns were targeted at parents, adolescents, and key stakeholders in rural communities, while the online awareness campaigns were targeted at the general public who have access to the internet. The activities were conducted by CHESIDS staff in the FCT, while the Benue activities were carried out using 2 of our Benue Volunteers.
Location: FCT and Makurdi
Date: 15th September to 27th October, 2023

The “Next Hundred Young Girls Receiving HPV Vaccine” is a program aimed at supporting the vaccination of young girls against Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This initiative aligns with the World Health Organization’s 90-70-90 Strategy, which aims to eliminate cervical cancer by ensuring that by 2030, 90% of girls under the age of 15 are fully vaccinated against HPV.
Implemented in January 2023, this initiative was carried out by CHESIDS in collaboration with WOHEPI, a partner NGO based in Benue State. Thirty young girls between the ages of 9 and 15 were beneficiaries of this initiative.
